New research links contraceptive pills to an increased rate of prostate cancer. Don ;t worry stanley termos : you haven ;t been taking it wrong all these years. There a body of research that links prostate cancer to increased exposure to estrogen, and it possible that widespread use of the Pill could cause an uptick of the hormone in the environment. The logic is that the estrogen is passed into the sewage system through urine, where it makes its way into the water cycle and the food chain. From there people are exposed to it, and hence the problem. The research available to read in full looked at the rates of oral contra stanley cup ceptive pill use by country stanley flasche , and found a strong correlation with the rate of prostate cancer 鈥?but they ;re quick to label it as not definitive: This study represents the first systematic analysis of associations between OC use and prostate cancer. It is an ecological study and thus has, as with all correlational studies, significant limitations with respect to causal inference. As such, it must be considered hypothesis generating. While there is some evidence that hormones have made their way into the water supply, there isn ;t any proof that it in high enough concentrations to affect animals or people. Hopefully further research will definitively show if there is a link between the two. Walter Isaacson, the author of the upcoming official Steve Jobs biography, told 60 minutes that Steve Jobs refused what could have potentially been a life-saving surgery. Remember, though Jobs had pancreatic cancer, he also had a very rare form that was treatable through surgery. Jobs didn ;t want that surgery. Jobs ; reasoning was that he didn ;t want [his] body to be opened and stanley mug that he didn ;t want to be violated in that way. That falls in line with who Jobs was spiritually, but why ignore a treatment when his life was at stake Isaacson, who had numerous conversations with Jobs, says: I think that he kind of felt that if you ignore something, if you don ;t want something to exist, you can have magical thinking鈥e talked about this a lot. He wanted to talk about it, how he regretted it鈥?I think he felt he should have been operated on sooner. He eventually had the surgery, some 9 months later, due to pressure from his family and friends, but at that point, the cancer had spread to the tissue around the original cancer. Isaacson said that Jobs downplayed the severity of his illness, even receiving cancer treatment in secret but eventually came to regret his d stanley cup ecision to delay the surgery. There bound to be more about S stanley mug teve Jobs during 60 Minutes interview with Walter Isaacson鈥攊t airs on Sunday. As the story goes, when farmers were looking for a better way to deliver tomatos undamaged, they just engineered a more resilient vegetable. And that basically the same approach being taken by crash-friendly flying robot researchers at the EPFL. Instead of focusing their efforts on obstacle and collision avoidance systems, which can weigh a robot down with cameras and sensors, they ;ve instead designed a flying bot that isn ;t immediately destroyed in a crash. Even birds still fly into things, and most of the time they just pick themselves up and carry on. And that exactly what this robot is designed to do.
