China s Foreign Ministry is calling the United States bullies and hypocrites for accusing five Chinese army officers of hacking American companies and stealing trade secrets, but that is likely only the beginning.Expect the Chinese to make the U.S. pay an economic price in retaliation, said former CIA deputy director and CBS News senior security analyst Mike Morell. adidas samba U.S. indicts Chinese hackers for stealing trade secrets 02:25 Some sort of economic deal that we would like to see happen will quietly go away, and the Chinese will send a very str chanclas yeezy ong signal that way, Morell said. It is it the first time the United States has brought such indictments against the Chinese with potential for diplomatic and business fallout. The army officers were accused of illegally accessing protected computers, identity theft, economic espionage and stealing trade secrets. The theft of U.S. intellectual property is a very serious problem, Morell said. I ve seen estimates of the cost of $250 billion a year, not only by China, but by a number of countries. U.S. has been in quiet dialogue with the Chinese for a couple of years, trying to work this out. There was very little progress, so I think this step was designed to get not only China s attention on th air force 1 is issue, but other country s attention as well. The help Iraq has received from China and other coun stanley canada tries to strengthen its air defenses is raising the risks to U.S. and British pilots flying over northern and southern Iraq, Defense Secretary Donald H. The risk grows to the extent that other nations assist Iraq in strengthening its military capability, its air defense capability, Rumsfeld said.Speaking to reporters in Ankara, he gave as an example U.S. assertions that Chinese workers were in Iraq early this year to install fiber optic links in Iraq s air defense network. The Pentagon cited those sophisticated communications links as a m stanley cup quencher ain reason for bombing targets in and around Baghdad in February. Rumsfeld said President Bush plans for now to stick with the Clinton administration s policy of regularly patrolling the skies over Iraq to contain President Saddam Hussein s forces. Some, including U.S. military commanders, have questioned whether the air patrols are worth the risk of having a U.S. or British pilot captured by Iraqi forces. KABUL adidas samba og , Afghanistan -- Afghan police arrested seven suspects after a Kabul mob beat a woman to death, then set her body on fire and threw it into the Kabul River, a police chief said Friday. The victim was accused of burning a copy samba og of the Quran, the Muslim holy book, inside a shrine, police said. The city s head of criminal investigation, Mohammad Farid Afzali, said the motive for the attack, which happened the previous night, was unknown.Police had tried to disperse the crowd by shooting in the air, Afzali said, but had reacted too late. He identified the woman as 27-year-old Farkhanda, and said she had been receiving psychiatric treatment for an unspecific condition for at least four years. The incident took place outside Kabul s famous yellow mosque, the Shah-Do Shamshira. Later, cell phone footage surfaced in the Afghan capital of the horrific beating. According to an eyewitness, protesters were chanting anti-American and anti-democracy slogans while beating the woman.Violence against women is endemic in Afghanistan but mob assaults on women in Kabul are extremely rare.President Ashraf Ghani ordered the Interior Ministry and the Ulama Council, which oversees religious issues, as well as the mosque leadership to investigate the attack. But analysts widely believe there are divisions between North Korean military and diplomats, a tug-of-war that sends mixed signals to an outside world with little information about the country s internal policy struggles. The United States, China, Japan, Russia and South Korea are trying to win a commitment from the North to make its first tangible steps toward abandoning its nuclear programs since the negotiations began in 2003. That goal has become more pressing since the North tested its first nuclear bomb in October, during one of the many deadlocks in the talks. For Kim,
