As CBS News projects that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden will win Michigan, the Trump campaign announced Wednesday that it has filed a lawsuit in the state. However, Michigan s secretary of state, Jocelyn Benson, told CBSN the suit does not have merit and is confident in the process of counting all votes.Bill Stepien, campaign stanley cup manager for President Trump, announced the president s campaign filed suit in the Michigan Court of Claims to stop officials from counting ballots there, saying campaign observers have been denied adequate access to vote-tallying locations. President Bush signed the biggest rewrite of U.S. bankruptcy law in a quarter century on Wednesday, making it harder for debt-ridden Americans to wipe out their obligations. Bankruptcy should always be a last resort in our legal system, Mr. Bush said. If someone does not pay his or her debts the rest of society ends up paying them. Many debtors will have to work out repayment plans instead of having their obligations erased in bankruptcy court under the law, which will go into effect in six mo stanley cup nths. The 500-page legislation won final congressional approval last week after being pushed for eight years by banks and credit card companies. The measure would require people with incomes above a certain level to pay some or all of their credit-card charges, medical bills and other obligations under a court-ordered bankruptcy plan. Those who fought the bill s passage said the change will fall especially hard on low-income working people, single mothers, minorities and the elderl stanley thermoskannen y and would remove a safety net for those who have lost their jobs or face crushing medical bills. As President Obama gets closer to taking executive action on immigration reform, Republicans say that he is ignoring the American people and provoking the GOP in the process. My advice to the Democrats at this point and to the president in particular is take a breath. The president said that he was not on the ballot in t stanley uk he election that was just held, but that his policies were. And the American people sent a very clear message to the president about his policies. They re not happy about them, said 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in an interview with CBS Face the Nation Sunday.Romney called the potential unilateral action extra-const stanley cup itutional, and a move that would be poking an eye of the Republican leaders in Congress and, ultimately, something that would hurt the people who would be affected by any executive action because it would deny them a permanent solution. Let those people who were elected come togethe stanley becher r with a piece of legislation on this and other topics, and then he has a chance to veto them if he doesn t like them. The following is a transcript of an interview with Dmitri Alperovitch, co-founder and forme stanley deutschland r CTO of CrowdStrike, that aired Sunday, August 16, 2020, on Face the Nation. Good morning to you, Dmitri. I know you have your own shop now. I want to ask you, since you watch this closely, what is the area of concern for you in election 2020 DMITRI ALPEROVITCH: Well, my biggest concern as a cyber-security expert is, of course, the hackability of our election systems, both from the influence side as well as from the voting perspective. And I can tell you from my experience that voting is the hardest thing to secure when it comes to cybersecurity. It is literally the hardest problem out there. The U.S. government has run into a number of glitches in sending stimulus payments to Americans intended to ease the financial pain from the coronavirus, including money going to the wrong bank accounts. Crgo Biden Enjoys The Spotlight With Obama
The similarities between Joe Kennedy III and Donald Trump are, in a sense, obvious. Both are white men, northeasterners, teetotalers. They are products of the Ivy League and great wealth. They joined their respective family trades ndash; real estate for Trump, politics for Joe III.The differences are obvious too, and more illuminating. Joe III is a liberal avatar of American institutions: the Kennedy family, Stanford, Harvard Law. Self-effacing in person, he recognizes how easy his path has been ndash; he only briefly served as an assistant DA before taking a House seat -- and had, until now, chosen to mitigate charges of nepotism by playing the part of diligent backbencher. The Kennedys, for all their famous faults, have the saving grace that comes from being in on the joke; when President Kennedy appointed his younger brother attorney general, he quipped that he was just trying to give Bobby some experience before he started practicing law. When they were on the rise, the Kennedys had little patience for norms.
