Its a sad state of affairs when its news that a nominee to lead a science agency actually agrees with the science said agency produces. But here we are. On Wednesday, Barry Myers, Trumps nominee to lead the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA , was asked numerous questions about his views on climate science during his Senate confirmation hearing. The Sun just hurled debris from a dea yeezy foam d sunspot toward Earth, and the superheated material is supposed to arrive at our planet on Thursday dont worry鈥攜ou wont feel it . On Monday, an old and dying sunspot dubbed AR2987 exploded, sending a mass ejection of material from the Sun into space, Space Weather reported. That material may cause a geomagnetic storm when it reaches Earth. Sunspots are relatively cool spots on the Suns surface, created when its magnetic field inhibits the usual process of heat convection, and prevents hot fluid from rising. These dark spots can last anywhere from a couple of hours to a few months. This particular sunspots explosion caused the release of huge amounts of energy in the form of radiation, as well as large expulsions of plasma and magnetic field from the outermost layer of the Suns atmosphere, which is known as a coronal mass ejection CME . Think of it as a big bubble of gas, filled with up to a billion tons of charged particles, moving at speeds of several million miles per hour. The CME is expected to reach Earth on April 14, according to predictions made by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The impact with Earths atmosphere could trigger a uggs skor G-2 ge nike dunk omagnetic storm. Storms are rated from G-1 to G-5, so a G-2 level storm is considered fairly moderate. Is it a true change of heart or is he just psyching himself up to say yes to the dump truck of money the franchise gives him At the New Yorker Festival on Friday, Daniel Craig was given the opportunity to give some perspective on his now infamous Time Out interview where he said that, having just finished making Spectre, Id rather break this glass and slash my wrists than do it again. Now, a year later, hes rested and less angry. Hes mostly learned that shit sticks, and that definitely stuck. He continued on to say, It was the day after filming [stopped on Spectre]. Id been away from home for a year. Basically, the whole thing was so exhausting that he was fed up during the interview. But time has mellowed him. If you factor in the price of the tickets for all the movies you see in theaters plus the over-priced popcorn and snacks , then the cost of upgrading your home theater with a projector doesnt feel as budget-breaking as it otherwise might. Particularly when companies like Optoma adidas yeezyslide are releasing full 4K options for less than two grand. Last November, we drooled over the Optoma UHZ50 4K projector that offered features like color compensation when using a painted wall as a screen and a laser light source that pumps out 3,000 lumens of illumination. Less appealing was the projectors $2,799 price tag, which was $1,000 more expensive than other 4K options already on the market. Image: Optoma The new Optoma UHD55 manages to hit a more reasonable $1,799 price point while actually outperforming the laser-based Optoma UHZ50 in certain specs, but it does so with a few compromises in other areas. For instance, it offers 3,600 lumens of brightness, which means that it should provide a very viewable image even in the middle of the day, assuming the screen or yeezy slide wall its projecting on isnt bathed in direct sunli yeezy ght or artificial lighting. But instead of lasers or LEDs, it uses a more traditional incandescent bulb as its light source, which means that it will need to be replaced after 15,000 hours of use or as soon as 4,000 hours if always used at full brightness . While running, it will also generate more heat, requiring a more intense and louder fan to keep the unit cool. Image: Optoma Opt Qkkt NBA Players Can t Stop Checking Their Phones During Games

A team of computer science students has embedded subliminal audio signals into music, allowing them to secretly seize control of devices that respond to voice commands. In a New York Times report published Thursday, a group of students from the University of California, Berkeley and Georgetown University detail the highly troubling research that lets them outwit smart speakers. The team embedded subliminal commands, inaudible to human ears, into anodyne, white noise music. While a human hears nothing out of the ordinary, Siri or Alexa respond to the command. YouTube thumbnails can be dreadful鈥攂ut Googles been teaching its algorithms to improve the previews they generate by using neural networks. While its possible to upload a custom thumbnail to accompany a YouTube video, many people dont bother. In those cases, Google samples one frame every second from the video as you upload it, then runs it through a series of filters to choose one of the resulting images to use as a thumbnail鈥攊ncluding the subjective-sounding quality model. But that doesnt always work, as Googles Weilong Yang and Min-hsuan Tsai show in these images. Now, Google has decided to apply some machine learning to its qua crocs winterstiefel lity model to try and get some better results. The pair explain what theyve done: Unlike the task of identifying if a video contains your favorite animal, judging the visual quality of a video frame can be very subjective people often have very different opinions and preferences when selecting frames as video thumbnails. Fortunately, on YouTube, in addition to having algorithmically generated thumbnails, many YouTube videos also come with carefully designed custom thumbnails uploaded by creators. In 1895, the people of Louisville buried a time capsule with some rare Confederate artifacts. The time ca salomon winterschuhe psule has been the center of controversy for some time, as it was resting underneath a hotly debated 70-foot tall Confederate monument near the University of Louisville.
